Did you know that Canarias is the Spanish community with the most production and consumption of goat cheese? Made with milk from Majorera goat, this cheese is produced in the six municipalities of the island of Fuerteventura and is closely linked to the economic boost of the Canary Island.

In the visit to the Majorero Cheese Museum you will discover what is the origin and how this goat cheese is made. The culture, fauna, flora and people of Fuerteventura are present during the whole visit to the museum. The location of the museum is ideal to fully immerse ourselves in the Majorera tradition: the Majorero Cheese Museum is housed in an old building typical of the architecture of Fuerteventura that formerly housed a goat farm.

Antigua Mill

The windmills are an authentic historical treasure on the island of Fuerteventura, and this is because the majoreros have known for centuries how to take advantage of the force of the wind. More than a thousand mills scattered throughout the island were formerly used to grind the grain and extract the water.

A very important part of the Majorero Cheese Museum is the Molino de Antigua, preserved in perfect condition despite having more than a century old. Being able to see how it works is a real spectacle worthy of contemplation, a test of how the inhabitants of the island of Fuerteventura have known how to take advantage of the natural resources that their land offers them.

Botanical Garden

In the botanical garden of the Majorero Cheese Museum you can find varieties of cactus from all over the world. But not only cactus lovers can enjoy this natural enclave, as its colors, unique varieties and environment marked by aridity invite meditation and stillness.

You can organize your visit any day of the week from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at kilometer 20 of Virgen de Antigua Street (Antigua, Fuerteventura, Spain). If you want, we will be happy to assist you on the phone 928878041 or through our email info@museoquesomajorero.es. We will wait for you!
